4608 foreigners expelled from Algeria in 2008

Algerian authorities have extradited as many as 4608 peoples living illegally in Algeria, since January, earlier this year, has unveiled a report released by the General Direction of Homeland Security, DGSN. According to the report, posted on the official website of the Homeland Security Direction, 4447 people have been sent back to their home countries for staying illegally, while the majority originated from Morocco, Niger and Libya. Meanwhile, Algerian authorities have expelled 63 illegal migrants during the same period, for several reasons, including the expiration of visas as well as for security and political considerations, as like the expelling of the US archbishop Hugh Johnson, last March, said the same report. Hudson has been accused of evangelisation in Tlemcen western province, targeting African illegal migrants. 66 foreigners have been banned from entering Algeria, through numerous ports and airports, because of administrative and security reasons, added the same report. It is worth mentioning in this regard that a Moroccan delegation which was to take part in the 5th International Amazigh Congress in Tizi Ouzou central province has been banned from entering. On another side, more than 615 thousands people have crossed the Algerian ports and airports, during since Jan.2008, concluded the DGSN report.
