El Khabar, 13 March 2008

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has disclosed for first time that he is intending running for a third term, saying parties and organizations insisting on him nominating himself “reflect a political maturity that I can only welcome. »
President Bouteflika has chosen the British Press Agency Reuters to announce his will for extending his term, while putting an end to doubts saying he likely would give up the idea of running for a third term.
In an interview with Reuters, President Bouteflika has also talked about the Army Institution, saying: “the Army has been playing a significant role while protecting our country in accordance with the Constitution, thus the Army is called today to become professional, which started being implemented.”
Furthermore, the President has replied to people saying his health troubles would prevent him from continuing governing, saying: “everybody know that I used to be ill, but today I’ve resumed normally my work, and I don’t think that my health deserves comments or overbidding.”
