Bouteflika appoints Ouyahia as the new Prime Minister

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has appointed Ahmed Ouyahia as the new Prime Minister replacing Abdelaziz Belkhadem who has been appointed as a Minister of State, personal representative of the President, in a Government reshuffle, a communiqué released by the Presidency said, yesterday.
The same communiqué announced that the President has made a partial reshuffle in the cabinet being led by Belkhadem since 2006.
Bouteflika has discharged Mohamed Meghlaoui from the Ministry of Transport, while appointing in his place Amar Tou, who used to be Minister of Health. In turn, Said Barkat, who used to be Minister of Agriculture, is in charge henceforth of Health Ministry, while Rachid Benaissa, who used to be Delegate Minister in charge of Rural Development, has been promoted to become the new Minister of Agriculture.
However, this new cabinet reshuffle has discharged Boudjemâa Haichour from the Ministry of Post and Information and Communication Technologies, after being charged for another mission, while being succeeded by Hamid Bessalah, who is an official in the sector.
Bouteflika has omitted the Delegate Ministry in Charge of Banking Reform, being led by Fatiha Mentouri who has been appointed in another position.
Furthermore, the Delegate Minister in Charge of Family and Woman Affairs has been joined to Solidarity Ministry, which is to be in charge also of the file of Algerian Nationals Abroad.
Observers said discharging Abdelaziz Belkhadem has been expected following failing dealing with the raising social anger manifested in recurrent protests movement in several provinces causing the death of many people and havoc.
