“My arrested friends are victims of a conspiracy and have no link with Al-Qaeda”

El Khabar, 24 june 2008

An Algerian national living in Spain has denied Madrid’s allegations saying he and other nationals support Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

He called Algerian Authorities to grant them defence, because “all the Spanish Ministry of Interior statements are no more than allegations.”

K. Salah visited El Khabar and said he came to Algeria two days before his friends had been arrested in Spain, while made sure to unveil the truth concerning allegations of Spanish Authorities to justify arresting 8 Algerian immigrants, before releasing two of them.

K. Salah said he had been surprised when he knew that his name was included in the case, as being a runaway suspect, following coming to Algeria two days before the arrest operation led by security services in three places in the Spanish territories.

He said the Algerians arrested are facing charges of participating in activities of armed group and allocating logistic and financial support to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

He further said that the think is about, according to Madrid, transferring € 3000 to a Libyan man, but, in fact, “I’ve transferred the aforementioned amount in 2005 for a Libyan national living in Spain who sold me a car that I still have up to now.”

K.Salah indicated that he and his friends have been “victims of a conspiracy set up by two men from Tunisia and Syria, to take the monopoly of the management of a mosque we built after being grated authorization from authorities there.”
