Energetic contracts to be sealed between Algeria and Italy’s Presidents

Cooperation between Algeria and Italy, in several sectors, has witnessed significant improvement, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his 2-day visit to Italy. “We have assessed the cooperation between Algeria, and Italy, with our counterparts in Italy, and we have agreed that a significant improvement has been reached in different sectors,” he told the Algerian international radio channel. It is noteworthy that commercial bilateral exchanges hit $10.3 billions in 2007, of which $7.9 are Algerian exports to Italy, mostly, composed of hydrocarbons, chemicals, and raw materials. Moreover, Foreign Affairs Minister added that this visit targets preparing summit of the presidents of Algeria and Italy, scheduled late this year. Numerous conventions will be sealed on this occasion, notably in the sector of energy, added Mr. Medelci. According to the same speaker, both countries have sealed an agreement related to the supply of Italy with the Algerian gas, till 2019, through a second pipeline, called Galsi, linking between Algeria, and Italy, across Sardinia. This project targets guarantying 40% of Italian gas needs.
