Khalifa will appear today before the British Justice
Ech-Chorouk, May 02, 2007
Fugitive Abdelmoumene Khalifa wil today appear before British Security and Judicial authorities. The man charged with money laundering and illegal stay in the United Kingdom will be heard before he is sent to either France or Algeria for further investigations in his case.
Both Algeria and France requested the deportation of Mr. Khelifa who would respond to the charges he is facing in what is now called in Algeria as “the scandal of the year”
Algeria’s former golden boy has been put in jail under a European arrest warrant issued by the French authorities under the offences of conspiracy to money laundering, breach of trust and fraudulent bankruptcy.
Algerian Justice Minister, Mr. Tayeb Belaiz stated last April 21st that British justice has to choose either extraditing runaway Rafik abdelmoumen to Algerian authorities or French ones as the fugitive faces almost the same accusations in both countries.
He pointed out the extradition treaty between Algeria and Britain waas signed and that everything is smoothly run as concerns the deportation case without giving any other details.
Rafik Abdelmoumen Khalifa has been sentenced in absentia for 20 years prison in the Khalifa trial in Blida Court.
