Westminster rejects to extradite Khalifa to Algeria
El Khabar, 25 december 2007
Westminster court has rejected last Friday Algerian authorities request to extradite the runaway billionaire Rafik Abdelmoumen Khalifa.
Judicial sources owed the reject of Westminster court to the fact that the dossier delivered by the Algerian judicial authorities has been incomplete.
The dossier contained arrest warrant issued by Blida court as well as some documents delivered by the liquidator of Khalifa Bank. In turn, judges in charge of Khalifa dossier in Westminster court considered that evidences provided by Algerian authorities were insufficient compared to evidences delivered by the French Justice following the issuance of a European warrant against Khalifa from Nanterre court in France.
To recall, Algerian authorities have submitted a request to extradite the runaway billionaire Rafik Abdelmoumen Khalifa later in November, while British authorities confirmed officially that they received the request.
